The Country Club is seeking a Head Equipment Manager to fill a key role in our organization that will be vacated this fall due to retirement. Well qualified candidates will have a "Team" mentality to go along with their experience and organizational skills. The right candidate should not only possess the skills required to perform job duties at a very high level, but should also have a willingness and ability to communicate, train, and assist in leadership with a team of approximately 32. The equipment manager will be expected to actively participate in the establishment and management of a capital equipment replacement program as well as annual repair and maintenance operational budgets. Additionally, the equipment manager is expected to establish and maintain a shop which promotes cleanliness, safety, professionalism, and efficiency which is expected at a top tier club. 

The Country Club is a private 18-hole facility located on 250 acres in Pepper Pike, Ohio. Known for being a family-oriented club, The Country Club provides numerous amenities to its members with the golf course being the focal point. Famed golf course architect William Flynn masterfully blended the routing of each golf hole with the natural topography to create a gem that is regarded as one of Flynn's greatest designs, and consistently ranks as one of the top courses in Ohio. The rich-history of the club also includes hosting national events with the 1935 U.S. Amateur and the 2012 U.S. Women's Amateur. 

The Country Club recently completed an extensive golf course restoration with architect Gil Hanse that culminated with the grand opening in May of 2023. The restoration included green expansions, complete bunker renovation, re-seeding of all fairways, new irrigation, and new short game facility. The club boasts a state-of-the-art maintenance facility that was built in 2013 providing the team with the resources necessary for success. In addition, the club maintains a robust annual capital budget to allow for improvements that will include the purchase of a new SIP bedknife grinder in 2024 along with a new SIP reel grinder at a date TBD.

Qualifications: 

  • Two years or more as a Head Equipment Manager or assistant Equipment Manager at a golf facility or distributor 
  • Ability to diagnose and repair diesel, gasoline and small engines 
  • Understanding of reel and bedknife grinding in regards to quality of cut and after cut appearance 
  • Understanding of reel geometry as it pertains to reel diameter, bedknife attitude and clip frequency 
  • Ability to diagnose and repair hydraulic and electrical systems 
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills 
  • Basic computer skills for parts lookup, parts ordering and equipment record keeping 
  • Possess an understanding of the game of golf and the basic agronomic fundamentals of championship playing conditions 

Job Responsibilities-

  • Willingness and ability to help the greens department operations in all facets necessary including working weekends as needed 
  • Maintain a clean and organized workplace 
  • Implement a detailed Preventative Maintenance (PM) Program based on manufacturer recommended service intervals for all equipment assets 
  • Maintain all cutting units to factory specifications and ensure proper quality of cut is achieved each use 
  • Repair all equipment failures in order of Superintendent's priority 
  • Daily communication with the Superintendent in regards to agronomic goals, equipment needs and all equipment issues 
  • Track all repair and maintenance expenditures to stay within a set budget 
  • Determine when equipment repair costs outweigh equipment replacement and maintain fiscal responsibility 
  • Maintaining proper inventory of common replacement parts (bedknives, tines, control cables, etc.) 
  • Train staff on proper equipment usage, equipment cleaning protocols and equipment safety precautions 
  • Develop a system for staff to report any and all equipment issues
Compensation: $70,000 annually + DOE
