Description: Avalon Golf and Country Club is seeking a motivated, dependable individual to join our maintenance team as a Mechanic in Training. The head Mechanic of 27 years at Avalon Lakes is retiring in two years and this is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in developing mechanical skills and building a career in the golf course maintenance industry to learn and then assume the duties of head mechanic. The successful candidate will receive hands-on training while assisting with the maintenance, repair, and servicing of golf course equipment, including mowers, utility vehicles, tractors, and other turf maintenance machinery
- Assist with routine maintenance and repairs on golf course maintenance equipment.
- Learn to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine-related problems.
- Perform oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, blade sharpening, and other preventative maintenance.
- Assist with equipment setup, adjustments, and seasonal preparation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop.
- Help keep maintenance records and track equipment service needs.
- Follow all safety procedures and proper equipment handling practices.
- Work with the maintenance team as needed to support daily golf course operations.
- Mechanical aptitude and a strong desire to learn.
- Dependable, hardworking, and willing to take direction.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Previous experience with small engines, automotive repair, agricultural equipment, or lawn and landscape equipment is preferred but not required.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Ability to lift equipment and parts and perform physical work as required
- Ability to work weekends and summer holidays.
